What is WOODCARPET®? WOODCARPET® is a 100% natural product and contains no chemicals or artificial ingredients. No waste wood or pallets are used as they could contain spilled chemicals, paint, metal, or wood preservatives. We utilize fresh wood that cannot be made into lumber.
Engineered wood fiber is an economical playground surfacing used on nearly 3/4 of all playgrounds in the U.S. because of its high impact absorbing qualities, yet firm, slip resistant surface that, if properly installed, allows for wheelchairs and strollers to traverse across it. Less expensive products such as sand and pea gravel just aren't accessible.
Woodcarpet® by Zeager is certified by IPEMA per F1292 and F2075 standard test methods. In fact, Zeager has their own test equipment to perform testing on their surface in-the-field. That means we can test our products in all sorts of conditions (hot or cold) to make sure they perform properly.It's not required, but we want to make sure we consistently provide a top notch product at a competitive price.Engineered wood fiber is the most economic option that meets all the qualities and standards you need in a playground surfacing.
Available Woodcarpets
About three quarters of all playground accidents are a result of falls. Protect your children and yourself with a surface that is third party certified, and meets the ADA, ASTM, CPSC and CSA standards for playground surfacing. A drainage system provides a place for the water to drain, prevents subsoil from mixing with the WOODCARPET®, creates a weed barrier, and creates air space allowing the WOODCARPET® to breathe. DURALINER®, a highly engineered drainage fabric, is available for all of our wood chip quotes (upon request).

8-12 inches of WoodCarpet® combined with 3-4 inches of gravel and our Duraliner fabric make this the most affordable system that we offer.Because of kick-out under equipment we recommend 8" thickness for equipment 4ft and under and 12" thickness for equipment over 4ft. Add wear mats under swing and slide exits to minimize maintenance in high traffic areas.
